Dr. John E. Going received a B.S. in Chemistry from Kansas State University and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Iowa. He began his technical career as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and then moved to Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City, Missouri.His activities at Midwest Research included managing projects for the EPA and the Department of Army Demilitarization program of stockpiled chemical warfare agents, as well as initiating programs in human exposure to toxic chemicals. He joined Fike Corporation in 1994, responsible for the design and application of explosion protection systems. In this role, he led projects to better the understanding of the explosion protection process as well as to improve and validate explosion protection equipment and techniques.  He has received 4 patents and has 38 reviewed technical publications. Now retired, he remains active in large format film photography, especially the restoration of vintage large format film cameras, and applying his research skills to his family history.
